NEW DELHI - After waking up to a chilly morning, Delhiites witnessed a warm and sunny Thursday with the maximum temperature registering at two notches above average. Similar weather is expected Friday, the Met department said.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with cold winds sweeping the northern plains, Delhi is witnessing cold nights, while bright sunshine is keeping the day warm.
“While sunshine raises the temperature during the day, nights are colder due to the impact of cold winds. The temperature will fall further after snowfall in Himalayas,” an IMD official said.
The maximum temperature was recorded two notches above average at 24.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was recorded at 6.4 degrees Celsius, almost two notches below average and only slightly higher than the season’s lowest.
According to IMD, Friday morning will witness mist as usual, but the day will be clear and sunny. The maximum temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius while the minimum will be around seven degrees.
