BAHRAICH - In the second incident in three days, a tiger has killed a man near the Katarniaghat forest reserve in this Uttar Pradesh district, an official said Saturday, adding it was not known yet if it was the same animal.

The body of the victim identified as Jagmal was recovered Saturday from the fields near the forest reserve.

“Jagmal was a resident of Jamuniya village. According to his family, he left his home Friday morning to collect wood and was missing since then,” Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) R.K. Singh told IANS.

Asked whether it’s the same feline which had killed 60-year-old man Saligram Thursday, Singh replied: “As of now, we cannot confirm whether it is the same tigress that had killed the man, whose body was recovered from the sugarcane fields Jan 6. We are still to find the pugmarks of the tiger that killed Jagmal.”

Bahraich is around 130 km from Lucknow.
