CHANDIGARH, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It has been argued by a section of scientists that the cell phone radiation and signals are turning out to be killer for some species of animals and insects around us. In many rural provinces and villages of India regional birds and insects have diminished in number after several cell phone towers have come up here and there. A section of Indian researchers wee of the opinion that the increase in the number of cell phone towers and mass penetration of the cell phone is proving dangerous for the population of Honey bees. The findings of the researchers of Punjab University in Chandigarh have added momentum in this theory.

The researchers in Punjab University in Chandigarh have reached the conclusion that in India the reduction in bee population is related with emergence of cell phone services. This has also been observed in other countries. While the other possible reasons could be viruses, pesticide usage and climate change, the cell phones is also potent reason for decline in their population. The university researchers placed cell phones around a hive and kept another hive as it is.

The experiment of the researchers in Punjab University in Chandigarh yielded result. The real cell phones were using GSM 900MHZ frequency. The hive with cell phones got fewer number of eggs from the queen bee. Neelima Kumar and Ved Parkash Sharma the researchers said that the electromagnetic field generated by the cell phones hampered the population in the hive. The finding is alarming because some other insect species may also suffer from cell phone radiation just like the bees.
