Fog again hits Punjab, Haryana

CHANDIGARH - Amid overcast conditions, a light fog enveloped parts of Punjab, Haryana and their joint capital Chandigarh Sunday.

Cold waves swept the region Saturday night and Sunday morning, increasing the chill in the air.

“Overcast conditions are prevailing in various parts of Punjab and Haryana,” said a met official here.

Amritsar city recorded a minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees Celsius Sunday morning. Patiala and Ludhiana recorded 8.2 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively.

Chandigarh recorded a low of 8.6 degrees Celsius Sunday.

“Light fog prevailed at different places, disrupting road traffic. We expect similar conditions in the next two-three days,” he added.

Rail and air traffic were also hit. Most trains and flights were behind schedule.

In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal cities recorded minimum temperatures of 7.3, 8.6 and 8.4 degrees Celsius respectively Sunday.
