NEW DELHI - Cold winds continued to sweep the capital Sunday even as Delhiites witnessed a relatively clear morning. The weather office said the chilly winds were expected to blow throughout the day.

The minimum temperature recorded at 8.30 a.m. was two notches below the average at 9 degrees Celsius. “The maximum temperature is likely to be around 18 degrees,” said an official at the India Meteorological Department.

“Though the sun will make an appearance during the day, it will not make any difference as the cold winds will blow throughout the day. There will be shallow fog in the evening,” the official said.

The winds were blowing at a velocity of 16 km per hour and are attributed to the snowfall in higher regions of the country, the official added.

The weather office has forecast similar conditions for Monday.
