Eight more die in UP, sunny day in cities

LUCKNOW - It was a warm and bright Friday throughout Uttar Pradesh, but the eight more deaths reported over the past 24 hours were a grim reminder the winter’s impact on the homeless people of the state.

The state disaster management department said two people died in Ballia while one death each was reported from Hashimpur, Hathras, Sidharthnagar, Lalitpur, Kaushambi and Allahabad.

The latest deaths took the state’s winter toll 125.

People in most cities experienced the rise in temperature. The day was bright and sunny, bringing people in droves to soak in the warmth.

Allahabad was the warmest with a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees, the coldest being Sultanpur at 4 degrees. Lucknow had a minimum of 4.6 degrees.
