SHIMLA - The hills of Himachal Pradesh may experience heavy rain and snowfall in the next 24 hours, a weather official said here Monday.
“There are chances of heavy rain and snowfall at some places in the state till Feb 8,” Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office here, told IANS.
He said the western disturbances — storm systems originating from the Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region — were again active in the region.
Most of the prominent tourist towns in the mid-hills like Narkanda, Manali and Dalhousie may witness moderate snowfall, he said.
Hills overlooking the resort of Manali saw good spells of snowfall Sunday. Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded 16.1 cm snow while Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti received 27 cm snow.
Shimla recorded a low of 5 degrees against Sunday’s 8.1 degrees Celsius.
Keylong was the coldest place in the state with a low of minus 3.9 degrees, while it was minus 0.8 degree in Kalpa, 7.2 degrees at Bhuntar and 4.3 degrees at Dharamsala.
