Tigress found dead in Ranthambore National Park

JAIPUR - A tigress was found dead in Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district, an official said Wednesday.
We found the tigress dead this (Wednesday) morning in Kundera range. The tigress, referred as T-5 or ‘Kachida female’, was successfully operated for a wound infested with maggots on Feb 3 and was feeding two three-month-old cubs,” a forest official said in Sawai Madhopur district, some 170 km from here.
The tigress was last sighted Tuesday night. We are going to conduct a post-mortem and only after that we will be able to know the exact cause and time of her death,” the forest official said.
The tigress was operated Feb 3 after state Tourism Minister Bina Kak spotted her wounded while on a vacation at the Ranthambore National Park. The minister promptly got the animal operated.
Ranthambore National Park is spread over an area of 1,334 sq km along with its nearby sanctuaries - the Mansingh Sanctuary and the Kaila Devi Sanctuary.
The park is famous for its tiger population and is considered one of the best locations in India to see the majestic animal in its natural habitat.
