Rain, snowfall across Kashmir Valley

SRINAGAR - There was widespread rain and snowfall across the Kashmir Valley Monday and the weatherman said more wet weather was in store for the region.
Heavy rain occurred in the plains of the Valley while the higher reaches saw snowfall. One to five feet of snowfall was recorded in Kargil town of Ladakh region since Sunday.
The Met office said the weather conditions would continue for some time.
“Widespread rain and snow is likely to occur in the Valley and the Ladakh region until Tuesday,” said an official of the weather office here.
A rockslide had struck two houses in Batalik area of Ladakh region Sunday, resulting in the death of five people, including three children.
Srinagar saw a minimum temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius while winter capital Jammu recorded a minimum of 13.7 degrees, the weather official said.
The minimum in north Kashmir ski resort of Gulmarg was minus 2.7 degrees Celsiusand Pahalgam hill station was 2.10 degrees, he added.
In Leh town of Ladakh region, the minimum today (Monday) was minus 2.2 while in Kargil town it was minus 2.7 degrees, the official said.
