SANTA BARBARA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Air-force base in Vandenberg, launched the biggest rocket that the western coasts of United States have ever witnessed. This rocket blasted off by Vandenberg Air Force Base yesterday at 1:10 p.m, has been named as Delta 4-Heavy rocket.
This new rocket is meant to carry a “new U.S. spy satellite on a classified mission”, that would work for the National Reconaissance Office. Vandenberg Launch has been regarded as the largest space craft launch from the western coast of the nation. Lt. Col. Brady Hauboldt, the director of the air-force launch said before the blast off, that this Vandenberg Launch will mark a new milestone for the country’s command over its space ability. He is also happy because the Western Coast has once again proved its potential of launching heavy space vehicle. Ever since Titan 4Bs was launched, the Vandenberg Air-force base has not launched a heavy machine in the western region. Yesterday’s Vandenberg Launch has once again established their capability of delivering payloads of all sizes and compliments, in a cost affective way, added Lt. Col. Brady Hauboldt. This space craft has the ability to launch payloads upto 24 tons into low-Earth orbit, and at a higher geosynchronous orbit, it can launch upto 11 tons. The space craft can produce a thrust of 2 million pounds.
This Vandenberg Launch was regarded as one of the biggest launches by the organization. Lt. Ann K. Blodzinski, a spokeswoman of the air-force department said that even if one does not see the launch he can definitely feel it in a big way. She also added that this launch was definitely more powerful that the other launches at Vandenberg.
